At 5.12 am this morning, the first teaser of Prabhas’ much-awaited film with Prashant Neel, Salaar, was released. The teaser, which was more of a character glimpse with Salaar being described as a dinosaur in Jurassic Park, has received mixed feedback, with fans feeling a tad underwhelmed with the content. In fact, the teaser did not even have one shot of Prabhas’ face, following which many took to social media to voice their disappointment.

Despite this, though, in its first 12 hours online, the Salaar teaser has managed to amass a whopping 33 million views and the question that remains now is whether it has the wherewithal to beat the record set by Yash’s KGF-Chapter 2 with 78 million in 24 hours. After the initial excitement surrounding the teaser, netizens reckon that Salaar may not beat the KGF-2 record, and may end a close second as far as the first 24 hours go.

Salaar, produced by Hombale Films, is being released in multiple parts, with the first, Ceasefire, set to be in theatres on September 28. The film is widely believed to be an upgraded version of the fimmaker’s debut venture, Ugramm, which he had produced himself and painstakingly made over several years. The film had given his brother-in-law and actor Sriimurali’s career a new lease of life. In fact, Prashant had said that he wanted to make a sequel as well, called Ugramm Veeram and Salaar is supposed to be a combination of these two, but made on a vastly bigger scale. The synopsis of the film on IMDB (believed to be official), reads,“A gang leader tries to keep a promise made to his dying friend and takes on the other criminal gangs,” which is being cited as proof of this theory.

The film has cinematography by Prashant’s trusted cameraman Bhuvan Gowda and music by Ravi Basrur. On the cast, there’s Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapathi Babu, Shruti Haasan, Shriya Reddy, Easwari Rao, Pramod, Sourav Lokesh, among many others.
