L2 Empuraan - Salaar actor Karthikeya Dev to play THIS role in Mohanlal-Prithviraj’s film?

Salaar, the Prashanth Neel directorial, has been garnering the attention of audiences with its stellar star cast. Prabhas, who played the protagonist Deva, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, who appeared in the role of Varadharaja Mannar, are receiving rave reviews for their performances. Along with the stars, the young actors who played the teenage versions of their characters are also receiving appreciation for their performances.

For the uninitiated, Karthikeya Dev played the teenage version of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character Varadharaja Manar in Salaar. Interestingly, the young actor is now set to reunite with Prithviraj for the latter’s upcoming directorial venture, L2 Empuraan.

Karthikeya Dev to play young Zayed Masood in L2 Empuraan?

In a recent interview with a Telugu media, Karthikeya Dev hinted that he is set to make his Malayalam debut with L2 Empuraan, the upcoming sequel to the Mohanlal-starring 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. Now, some unconfirmed reports suggest that the Salaar actor has been roped in to play the younger version of Zayed Masood, the popular character played by actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran, in the movie.

Well, it is clearly an interesting casting choice. Karthikeya Dev can easily pull off the younger version of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character as the duo share quite a lot of similarities in their facial features. Also, Zayed Masood was introduced in Lucifer as a Hindi speaker and it is a wise move to cast a relatively new non-Malayali teenage artist to play the younger version, instead of going for a familiar face. However, the makers of L2 Empuraan are yet to confirm the reports officially.

L2 Empuraan: Cast and crew

Mohanlal is set to reprise the celebrated character Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi Ab’Ram in L2 Empuraan, which reportedly serves as both a sequel and prequel to Lucifer. The main cast members of the 2019 blockbuster, including Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Sai Kumar, Saniya Iyappan, Baiju Santhosh, and others are expected to reprise their respective roles in the upcoming project.

Murali Gopy has penned the story, screenplay, and dialogues for the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial. Deepak Dev has composed the music, while Sujith Vaassudev is the director of photography. L2 Empuraan, which is jointly bankrolled by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, is slated to hit the big screens by the first quarter of 2025.
