Ever since news of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s home invasion and subsequent stabbing broke, several celebrities have addressed the issue and spoken about how unfortunate it was. Actress Urvashi Rautela, though, sparked yet another controversy when she was faced with the same question.
Why was Urvashi Rautela trolled?
Voicing her thoughts on the incident, Urvashi spoke about her latest Telugu film Daaku Maharaj’s box office success and the precious gifts she got from her parents to celebrate the same. Her point was that an incident like Saif’s stabbing would mean that she’d think twice before wearing these gifts in public. A clip of this interview went viral on social media, with the actress trolled for her comment. #UrvashiRautela105cr was trending for all the wrong reasons.
Netizens, though, thought that Urvashi was tone-deaf and insensitive in twisting it around and making it all about her and Daaku Maharaj. Comments ranged from “Pro max level of narcissim and ultra max level of foolish’ to ‘#RakhiSawant couldn't be everywhere and therefore God has Created #UrvashiRautela 😂👌The way she switched the topic of #SaifAliKhanAttacked discussion and made it all about herself’, ‘Urvashi was asked to talk about Saif and then showed her watch and ring’, ‘Rakhi is much better, she owns what she is. Urvashi is desperate, cheap and wannabe. #UrvashiRautela’ and jokes like, ‘Media: "Can we talk about something else?" #UrvashiRautela : "Not on my watch".
Urvashi Rautela apologizes to Saif Ali Khan
Following this backlash, Urvashi posted a long apology note on Instagram, which she subsequently took down, but hawk-eyed netizens took screenshots of the same before it was removed. In her note addressed to Saif Ali Khan, she yet again wrote that she is ashamed that she was consumed by the excitement surrounding Daaku Maharaj and the gifts she was receiving, instead of understanding what he’s going through.
