Debutant filmmaker Gautham Ramachandran's Gargi garnered attention from movie buffs ever since its title and first look poster were revealed. Later, a video of Sai Pallavi, who plays the lead in the movie, dubbing in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada for the project won the hearts of film lovers from across south.

The team was thrilled when Suriya's production house 2D Entertainment Pvt Ltd bagged the film's theatrical rights. The movie which hit the screens on Friday opened to unanimous positive response from critics and cinephiles alike. According to trade pundits, the film's collection witnessed a big jump in the weekend, thanks to word of mouth.

The other day, Sai Pallavi had informed that she would visit a few theatres in Chennai to meet the audience. Her fans and others were excited to meet the actress during the interval time. She took selfies with a few of them and happily interacted with some of the fans who belonged to various age groups.

A few pictures and videos of her visiting movie halls have been going viral on social media. The elated actress took to her Twitter page to thank Suriya for all the support he provided to make Gargi reach a wider audience. He also requested Suriya to convey her gratitude for Jyotika as well.

Her tweet read, "Thank you for everything Sir ! Your support has helped Gargi reach a wider audience! And Pls thank Jyotika mam for me (sic)."

A couple of days ago, Suriya thanked the audience and media for showering praise on Gargi and described it as a "well-written, well-made film". He congratulated Pallavi and Gautham, too. With the movie receiving accolades from several quarters, the trade is eager to know how much the movie would earn in the long run.
