Hollywood friendships always make headlines, especially when the friendship leads to movies where friends star together or make special appearances. It adds a new layer to the complete dynamic. Ryan Reynolds and Brad Pitt may not have been so great friends, but the two stars share a common director they have both made iconic movies with. David Leitch is a filmmaker who has formed an unbreakable bond with Brad and Ryan, and there is no way you will not watch a film when they reunite. But did you know Ryan Reynolds once paid back a debt that he had by making a special appearance in the Pitt-led Bullet Train?
Bullet Train is one of the most talked-about action comedies in the past few years. Starring Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the movie had a lot to talk about, but nothing beats the cameos. Director David Leitch managed to pull off one of the most insane cameo castings with ace actors peppered all across the movie. One of the most fascinating of them was that of Ryan Reynolds. But the actor, as per Leitch, actually said yes to pay back Brad for his Deadpool 2 cameo. Read on to know everything about the same.
If you are uninitiated, back in 2018, Deadpool 2 was a hot topic. The movie that had Ryan Reynolds in the titular role was under 20th Century Fox. While the film was an exciting affair, things got even more exciting when Brad Pitt appeared out of nowhere to make a cameo as Vanisher and die in no time. The cameo, as per director David Leitch, was a substitute for the Fight Club star. Pitt was initially offered a meaty role but couldn't take it up due to scheduling conflicts. But he agreed for a cameo.
Talking to Business Insider about Ryan Reynolds’ cameo in Bullet Train and convincing the Deadpool star, David Leitch said, “I just pitched him the idea of, ‘Why don’t you pay back Brad for the cameo in Deadpool 2?’ That’s really all it took. He was like, ‘I’m in.’ He was really grateful that Brad did that for him, so he really wanted to support us on this.”
Further talking about the Bullet Train cameos and including them, he added, "When you pay your money and you go to the theater, you want to have a fun time. So looking at 'Hobbs and Shaw,' or the last 'Deadpool,' and this movie, cameos really work for me and I embrace them. I look for pockets of opportunity, we look for relationships with the actors on set. If the material feels like it's right, I'm leaning in. You paid your money, you want to be surprised."
Bullet Train streams on SonyLIV in India, and you can access it with your OTTplay Premium subscription. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
