Popular actor Jagapathi Babu, who revived his career with a series of roles as a character artiste and an antagonist in several films over the last decade, is headlining a period drama that’s set for a release soon. He’ll be next seen in a film titled Rudrangi, that unfolds in the pre-independence era, where he’s cast as a cruel zamindar with multiple partners. Ajay Samrat is the director.
Vimala Raman, who earlier joined hands with Jagapathi Babu for films like Gaayam 2, Om Namo Venkatesaya and Mamta Mohandas, who acted with the star in Homam, play the female leads in the same. Kalakeya Prabhakar, Ashish Gandhi, Ganavi Laxman, RS Nanda essay other pivotal roles in the film bankrolled by Telangana politician Rasamayi Balakishan under Rasamayi Films.
While the film grabbed eyeballs with its intriguing teaser a couple of months ago, the makers confirmed its release date this week. Rudrangi will be out in theatres in July 7 worldwide. The film has been shot on a lavish scale and special efforts went into capturing the little details of the pre-independence era. The attention to detail in terms of production design, costumes is evident in the promos.
The teaser portrayed that Mamta Mohandas, who gets married to Jagapathi Babu, teams up with a rebellious local in a village to overthrow the zamindar and ensure justice. The tension between both the wives of the zamindar contributes to the drama. The film promises to offer a satiating dose of action, emotion, redemption, romance in a different era.
Ais Nawfal Raja has composed the music for the period drama while Santosh Shanamoni is the cinematographer. Bonthala Nageswara Reddy is the editor of and Ayesha Mariam is the costume designer. Ajay is the art director and Varun Bairagoni is the co-producer. Leading music label T Series acquired its audio rights.
