Rudrangi, the Telangana-centric period drama inspired by real incidents, marked the directorial debut of Ajay Samrat, a former associate of Baahubali writer Vijayendra Prasad. The film is produced by bureaucrat Rasamayi Balakishan under Rasamayi Films. The drama featured a bevvy of talents including Jagapathi Babu, Vimala Raman, Ashish Gandhi, Ganavi Laxman and Mamta Mohandas.

The film opened to decent reviews from audiences in theatres but couldn’t prove to be a money spinner in the longer run. After its brief theatrical run, the period saga’s post-theatrical rights were acquired by Amazon Prime Video and the film began premiering on OTT soon. Rudrangi has consistently featured in the top 10 movies’ list in India on Amazon Prime Video in the recent weeks.

After landing on Amazon Prime Video, the film is gearing up for a digital premiere on another leading streamer this Friday i.e. September 1. Now, popular streaming platform aha has also bagged the bagged the digital rights of the film and unveiled the trailer ahead of its OTT release this week. This dual OTT premiere strategy is certain to help Rudrangi reach out to a wider audience base.

The story commences when Mallesh’s life takes a turn for the worse when a zamindar kills his grandfather and separates him from his cousin Rudrangi. He soon wins the trust of a landlord Bhimrao and leads a dignified life. Bhimrao, who has two wives - Mirabai and Jwalabai - is interested in another woman. What connects Mallesh to her and how far will he go to fight for her dignity?

Santosh Shanamoni is the cinematographer for the drama while Nawfal Raja Ais is the composer and Nageswara Reddy Bonthala is the editor respectively. Aayesha Mariam has handled costume design with Jashuva, Ram Sunkara supervising the action sequences. Rudrangi was Mamta Mohandas’ comeback to Telugu cinema after a long sabbatical.
