Rudhran trailer: Raghava Lawrence's revenge drama comes across as the same old wine in new bottle

It's been a while since Raghava Lawrence made an appearance on screen. The choreographer-actor-filmmaker was last seen in Kanchana 3 which was released four years ago. He made his Bollywood directorial debut with Laxmii in 2020, and Rudhran which had him play the titular role was supposed to hit the screens a year ago.

However, makers postponed the plan and the revenge drama is now gearing up for release on April 14. Producer Kathiresan, who has made a few notable films, has turned director with this movie. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead and Sarath Kumar essays the antagonist in it.

The makers have unveiled its trailer now; the two-and-a-half minute promo video portrays the story of Rudhran who sets out to take revenge against a dreaded goon after the latter makes his life miserable. Lawrence puts his best foot forward in dance and action scenes, and those portions are likely to be a treat for his fans.

However, the hero-villain conflict appears predictable and reminds us of a hundred movies, at least if we go by the trailer. Kathiresan is someone who has a high success rate as a producer, and we hope he has ample elements put in order coupled with an engaging screenplay for his directorial debut.

GV Prakash Kumar has composed songs for the project which has background score by Sam CS. RD Rajasekar has cranked the camera while KP Thirumaaran has penned the screenplay. Stun Siva's action choreography is expected to be the highlight of Rudhran which has editing by Anthony.

Adhigaram, Jigarthanda Double X and Chandramukhi 2 are a few projects Lawrence is currently part of. He is likely to have two releases this year.
