S.S. Rajamouli is really in a league of his own right now after the release of his latest outing, RRR. The movie, which was expected to set the box office on fire, has now created a record first day collection.
According to film business analyst, Taran Adarsh, the movie grossed an extraordinary Rs. 223 crore worldwide. The movie’s whopping collection means that it has moved ahead of Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion for highest first day collection.
The movie has collected Rs. 156 crore in the domestic box office in all languages and has collected Rs. 42 crore in the U.S and Rs. 25 crore in non-U.S overseas collections.
The movie has generated positive reviews following its release and even celebrities like S. Shankar and Atlee Kumar have taken to social media to praise the movie and its team.
“RRR is an extremely well-made period drama that plays to the galleries and still doesn't forget its purpose of telling a gripping story. Jr NTR, Ram Charan come up with fantastic performances and become one with their iconic characters. SS Rajamouli is bettering himself from film to film and the narrative control he has with RRR is even better than Baahubali.” reads OTTplay’s review of the movie.
Reports also suggest that the movie also finds its way onto the box office record books in Tamil Nadu. The movie has managed to find place in top five opening day collections during the pandemic era in the state.
The movie, which was released in India in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, is available to watch in theatres around the country.
