S.S. Rajamoulin made his presence felt across the country with his Baahubali films and his latest film, RRR, has already crossed the Rs. 1000 crore mark worldwide. But this feat is particularly impressive considering there has been no release of the film in China.
On its 16th day of release, RRR has reportedly collected over Rs. 20 crore at the box office, taking its total worldwide collection to Rs. 1003.35 crore. While Aamir Khan starrer Dangal had collected over Rs. 2000 crore, RRR’s feat is impressive considering there has been no release in China.
Reportedly, Rs. 1200 crore of Dangal’s massive ₹2,024 crore came from the Chinese box office. The country offers the second-largest movie market in the world after the USA. However, the makers of RRR have not tried releasing the movie in China.
The makers have also had to stop themselves from selling the movie to an OTT platform, after its release faced multiple delays due to the coronavirus pandemic. The movie needed to be witnessed on the big screens, and it's another reason for the movie’s box office success.
Written and directed by Rajamouli, the movie features Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the lead, with extended cameos from Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. The movie also features Samuthirakani, Shriya Saran and Edward Sonnenblick.
“RRR is an extremely well-made period drama that plays to the galleries and still doesn't forget its purpose of telling a gripping story. Jr NTR, Ram Charan come up with fantastic performances and become one with their iconic characters,” reads the movie’s review on OTTplay.
