After a lull, the promotional activity for Ashish, Anupama Parameshwaran starrer Rowdy Boys has kickstarted again. The college drama was one among the first films to have confirmed its theatrical release for Sankranti after SS Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR was postponed. Directed by Hushaaru fame Sree Harsha Konuganti, the film that marks the acting debut of Ashish revolves around the clashes between the students of two warring colleges. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for the film. The third song of Rowdy Boys, Brindavanam Nunchi, was launched today.
Set amid a college fest, Anupama Parameshwaran is grooving to a peppy number based on Lord Krishna and his various mischevous activities. The male lead Ashish is one among the audience, dressed in a tee that's labelled 'security'. Lyricised by Suddala Ashok Teja, the number is sung by the folk music sensation Mangli, marking the reunion of the Saranga Dariya singer-lyricist duo. Though the number hardly falls into the league of their previous collaboration, it serves the purpose of being a catchy college song.
Brindavanam Nunchi doesn't have the sparkle that you generally expect from a song written by Suddala Ashok Teja - the lyrics remain quite basic and offer nothing exquisite in terms of word play or meaning. Whereas for Mangli, this number is a walk in the park. Even in the case of Devi Sri Prasad, this is nowhere close to his best. Yet, despite its limitations, the number has a good hook to grow on music lovers.
Anupama is back in action in Telugu cinema after a lull and it's good to see her back to her enthusiastic self, appearing in good shape and dancing like there's no tomorrow. There's a portion in the number where Ashish and Anupama are dreaming of dancing together. Two songs from the film have already been released, including the title track and another melody Preme Akasamaithe.
