By her admission, Roopa Ganguly does not want to get into controversies. She clearly said that she had no idea about the controversy regarding Besharam Rang from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film, Pathaan. However, she also said that she would not watch the film.
After a break of four years, Shah Rukh Khan is returning to the silver screen. Meanwhile, Roopa Ganguly is making her comeback to television after eight years. Pathan is getting released on January 25. Roopa’s serial Meyebela starts on January 23. Pathaan is already at the centre of controversies, and the saffron brigade is vocal against Deepika Padukone’s saffron bikini in a song of this film. They also threatened that if the scene is not removed then the film will not be released. Roopa, the ex-Rajya Sabha MP of that saffron brigade told Anandabazar Online that she would not watch Pathaan, but she did not want to express her opinion. She said that she would not watch the film for some different reason, and would not stop anyone from watching it.
A section of the BJP leaders all over the country called for boycotting Pathaan. They burnt the posters of Shah Rukh and Deepika and performed symbolic last rites. But Roopa said that she did not know about the controversy. She has an acting life of thirty-five years. She left her mark in all her roles and played intimate scenes or scenes with a bold dress at ease. However, she does not have any opinion about Deepika's saffron clothes. She said, “I don't know anything about the bikini controversy. However, I am hearing many opinions about the film, and not at all interested to watch it. But I can not stop anyone.”
