Vinayak Vaithianathan is at the helm of the film which has gone on floors

Vijay Antony, who has had three releases this year - Tamilarasan, Pichaikkaran 2 and Kolai - has begun shooting for his next. The movie which has been titled Romeo has debutant Vinayak Vaithianathan at its helm. Billed as a romantic drama, the project's shooting has commenced in Malaysia.

Mirnalini Ravi has been paired opposite Vijay in the film, and this is the latter's first outing as a romantic hero. It is being bankrolled by Vijay himself under his new production house Good Devil. The makers have released a still which features Vijay and Mirnaa entangled in love.
Billed as a pan Indian project, it has VTV Ganesh, Thalaivasal Vijay and Ilavarasu among others essaying notable characters in it. Love Guru is the title the makers have come up with for its Tollywood version. The title for the Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi versions will be announced later.
Vijay himself is in charge of editing for the movie. He has been the editor for a few of his previous outings like Annadurai, Thimiru Pudichavan, Kodiyil Oruvan and Pichaikkaran 2, which also marked his directorial debut.
Romeo has cinematography by Farook J Basha and music direction by Barath Dhanasekar. Kamala Nathan is at the helm of art direction for the project. Murali G will be choreographing action scenes for the movie. The film has been slated for a theatrical release during the summer of 2024.
Vijay Antony currently has a bevy of projects awaiting release, including Agni Siragugal and Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan. He didn't have any release in 2022. His first outing in 2023, Tamilarasan, sank without a trace while Pichaikkaran 2 earned profits. Kolai, on the other hand, opened to poor reviews.
