Akash Puri, after a string of flops, is testing his fortunes with a new film Romantic, where he pairs up with Ketika Sharma. Puri Jagannadh has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for the film and has also produced it in collaboration with Charmme Kaur under Puri Connects and Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies. Romantic is directed by first-timer Anil Paduri. Ahead of the film's theatrical release on October 29, the trailer was launched by Baahubali, Saaho star Prabhas in the presence of its cast and crew.
The first aspect you notice in the trailer is its slick treatment, unique to Puri Jagannadh's films in addition to its fiery, sharp dialogues. Romantic looks like the filmmaker's ode to love, revolving around the lives of two youngsters. The boy lusts after the girl, stalks her and despite initial resistance, she ends up falling for his advances. While it's clear that both of them are attracted to each other, they don't want to give their relationship any labels. Both deny their love for one another in different instances, though they realise their true feelings in the hour of crisis.
Ramya Krishna plays an arrogant, no-nonsense police officer, who doesn't see any future in their relationship. The intensity in her dialogues warrants your attention. The trailer ends with a dramatic shot where Akash hugs his on-screen love, who is busy firing bullets at the cops in the middle of a forest. The romance element in the film, living up to its title and initial promos, is raw, wild and sensuous. Romantic, shot in scenic locales, deals with the idea of love, lust and pain. It aims for shock value of its sequences and doesn't leave anything to the audience's imagination.
Not many characters are seen in the trailer. Singer Chinmayi has dubbed for the leading lady Ketika Sharma. Romantic's fate is especially crucial for Akash Puri, who is in desperate need of a hit to stabilise his career. Sunil Kashyap has composed the music for the film, while it's edited and cinematographed by Junaid Siddiqui and Naresh Rana respectively. The film was to hit theatres on November 4 initially and advanced its release plans by a week recently. Romantic will lock horns with the Naga Shaurya, Ritu Varma starrer Varudu Kaavalenu on October 29.
