If you had already caught up with last week’s releases – Mohanlal’s Alone and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Thankam, this weekend has more variety in terms of the Malayalam movies that have dropped on OTT platforms as well as theatres. As many as six movies are available for the audience to pick from, and these include horror-comedy Romancham, crime-thriller Veekam, police drama Iratta as well as family entertainers like Aneesh Gopinathan and Anu Sithara-starrer Momo in Dubai and Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddique and Lena’s Ennalum Ente Aliya.

Romancham

Starring Soubin Shahir, Arjun Ashokan and Chemban Vinod Jose, this horror-comedy, set in 2007 in Bengaluru, is based on a true incident that happened in the life of its director Jithu Madhavan and his friends. The film has a host of newcomers along with the trio and has Sushin Shyam’s peppy music to liven up the proceedings.

Iratta
Release platform: Theatre
Debutant Rohit MG Krishnan’s police drama has Joju George essaying double role for the first time in his career. The movie has both of his characters as police officers. The strained relationship between the twins forms the focus in this drama, which also has Srinda, Anjali and Arya Salim in pivotal roles. Joju is also co-producing the movie.
Vedikettu
Release platform: Theatre
Actor-scriptwriters Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George turn directors in Vedikettu, which is touted to be an entertainer that revolves around the clashes between people of two villages, who unite only during a festival. Both Vishnu and Bibin essay the lead characters in the movie, which also has Aishwarya Anilkumar.
Momo in Dubai

Scripted by Sudani from Nigeria director Zakariya and Ayisha writer Aashif Kakkodi, this fun family entertainer revolves around Momo and his family who moves to Dubai for the first time. The series of incidents that happen to them, spurred by Momo’s antics in the foreign country form the plot of this film, which has Anu Sithara, Aneesh Gopinathan and Athreya Baiju as Momo.
Veekam
Release platform: ZEE5
Dhyan Sreenivasan, Dayyana Hameed and Dain Davis star as forensic surgeons who are accused of murder. The trio set out on a parallel investigation to prove their innocence in this crime thriller, which is helmed by Sagar and also has Aju Varghese, Jagadish, Dinesh Prabhakar and Sheelu Abraham in pivotal roles.
Ennalum Ente Aliya
Release platform: Amazon Prime Video
Balakrishnan’s brother-in-law Vivek arrives at a crucial juncture in his and wife Lakshmi’s life in Dubai. Parallely, in another apartment in the same complex, Zulfi and her husband are worried about her daughter Ismi, whom they doubt is in love with Vivek. The two families confront each other, and in the process also unravel several other secrets. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddique, Lena and Gayathri Arun star in this Bash Mohammed directorial.
