Romancham: Soubin Shahir, Arjun Ashokan team up for film that marks debut production of these stellar talents

Soubin Shahir and Arjun Ashokan will be seen playing the lead characters in director Jithu Madhavan’s debut directorial Romancham, which will also mark the production debut of some of Mollywood’s best talents.

The team had released the poster of the film on social media on Sunday, and more than the movie’s cast, which comprises a set of newcomers apart from the duo, what impressed the most are its producers.

The film is bankrolled by Ambili and Guppy director Johnpaul George, Jallikattu cinematographer Girish Gangadharan and Soubin himself. Music director Sushin Shyam is also the film’s co-producer. From what we know, the movie revolves around a group of youngsters who stay in Bengaluru.

The team has completed the shoot of the film and is currently working on its post-production. Romancham, which also has Chemban Vinod Jose and Jagadeesh, is set to release by August this year. The film’s director and scriptwriter Jithu had previously assisted Johnpaul in Ambili and Guppy, and had also worked as an associate director in Tovino Thomas’ Maradona.

Soubin, meanwhile, is currently busy with the pre-production for his second directorial Othiram Kadakkam, which has Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. The movie, which is set to go on floors soon, is produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films. Soubin also has two upcoming releases including Santosh Sivan’s Jack N’ Jill, which has Manju Warrier in the lead, and Sidharth Bharathan Djinn, which also has Shine Tom Chacko, Sharafudheen, Leona Lishoy and Santhy Balachandran in pivotal roles.

Arjun Ashokan, meanwhile, has a few films lined up for release including Thattasseri Koottam, Kaduva, Thuramukham and Nancy Rani. The actor, who was recently shooting for Trishanku that also has Anna Ben, will next be seen in Thuramukham, which is set to hit theatres on June 3. Arjun is also part of Resul Pookutty’s directorial debut Otta, which has Asif Ali in the lead.
