Rohit Shetty says he was scared to host Khatron Ke Khiladi: Wasn’t sure if people would accept me or not

When Khatron Ke Khiladi came back on the silver screen for another exciting new season, fan favourite Rohit Shetty returned to take up the helm of the show’s host yet again. The current season of the adventure reality show marks the filmmaker’s seventh stint as host. But it seems that Shetty had his fair share of doubts before his first time hosting.

In conversation with The Indian Express, Shetty spoke how ‘challenging’ it was for him to accept the responsibility of hosting the reality show, as the show featured superstars and actors as contestants. Shetty had hosted the show for the first time in 2014, when the show returned after a gap for its fifth season. The filmmaker said that he felt a huge responsibility and he even felt scared as it was the first ever time that a director was hosting the show. “There were a lot of expectations, and I wasn’t sure if people would accept me or not”, he said.

But things worked out in the end, as Shetty had gone on to become one of the most popular hosts of Khatron Ke Khiladi, hosting the show for seven seasons. The filmmaker spoke of how much love the show got from audiences, calling it ‘magical’.

Shetty also shared an incident on the show which made him realise that he had taken the right decision to be its host. The filmmaker recalled how he had been shooting for Singham Returns a week after the show had aired. Shetty’s manager had rushed in to show him the reality show’s TRPs and the filmmaker was surprised to see that it was one of the highest in the show’s history. Shetty said that he found it hard to believe, but was grateful nonetheless.
