Renowned actor Carl Weathers is no more. The actor's manager confirmed the passing of the Rocky star at the age of 76. Carl was best known for playing the role of Apollo Creed in the Sylvester Stallone-starrer Rocky franchise. Besides starring in Rocky, Carl was seen in Predator alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. He also played a pivotal role in The Mandalorian, for which he bagged an Emmy nomination. Amid this, the actor's family also issued an official statement about his demise
According to Deadline, Carl Weathers' family stated that they were 'deeply saddened' to share the news of his death. They remembered the Rocky star as an exceptional human being who led an extraordinary life. The actor's family also mentioned that Carl left an incredible mark through his contributions to film, television, arts, and sports.
Meanwhile, Predator star Arnold Schwarzenegger also mourned Carl's loss. He shared a tweet on X remembering his co-star, who he feels will always be a 'legend'."An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person. We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn’t have had such a wonderful time making it (sic)," wrote Arnold.
Carl Weathers was born on January 14, 1948. He always intended to play professional football in his life. Although he joined the Canadian Football League's BC Lions, Carl left the game and pursued a career in acting from 1974. In the initial phase of his acting career, Weathers featured in films like Friday Fosters, Bucktown, and The Four Deuces. Later, he starred in multiple installments of the Rocky franchise, for which he will be remembered forever.
While he was busy with the Rocky films, Carl Weathers also lent his voice to Toy Story 4, Eight Crazy Nights, Balto III: Wings of Change, Regular Show, Pinky Malinky, and others.
