Rocking Star Yash’s KGF- Chapter 2 update: Get ready to experience the thunder of a cannonade, tweet makers

There’s no denying that fans of Kannada cinema’s Rocking Star Yash and the KGF franchise are getting restless. With exactly a month and a half to go for the release of KGF: Chapter 2 on April 14, as announced earlier, they have been wondering why the team has not begun any promotional activities. This, they say, is quite unlike the first instalment of the film, for which the team had gone all out on marketing it across the country, a gamble that paid off for them, making it the phenomenon it is today. The same, however, cannot be said for the sequel, with very few morsels of information in the public domain, which have been let out at massive intervals.

In recent times, the only official announcements from the team have been about cast members like Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and Srinidhi Shetty, among others, completing dubbing for the film, apart from a series of temple visit images in the run-up to the promotional activities. In the absence of official word on the film, several fake social media handles have sprung up, including many that look suspiciously like the original Hombale Films handle with promises of updates on certain dates and times.

Karthik Gowda of KRG Studios, who also serves as executive producer at Hombale Films, has finally taken to social media, requesting fans not to believe information from these fake handles. He wrote, “Pls dont believe announcements from fake handles. All #KGFChapter2 updates will come from only the official accounts soon. #KGF2OnApril14.” His tweet, which tagged Yash, director Prashant Neel, and Hombale Films, reiterated the team’s commitment to release the film on April 14, but offered no other insight into when to expect a trailer or song.

A few days ago, the official Hombale Films handle had asked fans what they’d like to see first, and the overwhelming response was for the trailer. Earlier today, the production house posted, “We're thrilled with the response from the KGF Army. Rollicking update coming your way very soon. Don't let your eyes move away from this space. Get ready to experience the thunder of a cannonade. Stay tuned! #KGFChapter2 #KGF2onApr14."

Industry insiders say that KGF: Chapter 2 promotions will, in all likelihood, kickstart on a serious note after the release of the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s last commercial film, James, which is coming to theatres on March 17. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the KGF: Chapter 2 stars Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Achyuth Kumar, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha, among others, on its cast.
