Rocket Boys 2 Exclusive! Jim Sarbh: I don't believe there are any heroes or villains in the world, just people with pasts

Jim Sarbh made his mark with Rocket Boys season 1. The actor comes back in the second season but in a changed avatar. In the role of Dr. Homi Bhabha, Jim shows a switch in his personality after knowing that he has targets on his back. The actor, who has otherwise won awards for playing negative characters, believes there are no heroes or villains in the world but people with pasts.

Jim has received an award for his roles in Neerja and Padmaavat. While he made his debut as a terrorist with Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja, Jim played an apprentice to Ranveer Singh’s Khilji in Padmaavat.

We at OTTplay asked the actor if people see a different side to him after Rocket Boys and Jim reverts that it has been happening since a long time. He further adds, “I've done quite a few shows where I've not been the outright villain. Hopefully, there's a change in the way we think about these things. I don't believe there are any heroes or villains in the world. I just believe there are people with pasts and if we can understand that, then we can understand who they are.”

Dr. Bhabha, Jim believes, is the most fulfilling role of his career so far. After a slight cough, he mentions, “There was more scope to perform, na? Such a variety of scenes to perform, so yeah.”

We asked him about the change in the character’s personality and Jim said, “People generally don't change very much. They mature and learn how to manage the bad parts of them. They get better as they grow older. Experiences taught them how to deal with and react in certain situations.”

The actor reminded all that people grow up. “All the things that pricked you in your youth, don't anymore na? When you look back on the things which you thought were the most important things on Earth when you were younger, as you get older you realize that's not so important,” Jim shared.

“Similarly, he has matured but that doesn't mean he suddenly changed his fun-loving nature. How can you take that out of him? It's a very important part of him,” he added.

Jim has played various historical characters throughout his career. Right from Neerja to Sanju to Rocket Boys, Gangubai Kathiawadi and even Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, all his characters are from the past. “In no way was that my focus. It's just the way it happened,” he explains.

Ask Jim about an update on Made In Heaven season 2 and he shares, “It should come out this year. I don't know if it is ready but I think it should come out this year.”
