Actor Rituraj Singh, who is known for essaying prominent roles in films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Yaariyan 2, passed away earlier today. The beloved actor was only 59 and had recently been admitted to the hospital for some pancreatic issues. He had returned home after that but had suffered a cardiac arrest yesterday and passed away. The actor is survived by his wife and two children.
Once news of Rituraj Singh’s death broke, condolences started pouring in from celebrities of all kinds, directors, co-actors, and friends. Manoj Bajpayee was unable to believe the news, which he received when he woke up today. He took to Twitter to pay homage to his dear friend, “How can this be true Ritz?” Bajpayee fondly addressed him by his nickname, “Why? Such a devastating news to wake up to! Rest in peace Rituraj my friend! Om Shanti.”
Hansal Mehta, who had briefly directed the late actor in a daily soap called K. Street Pali Hill, initially disbelieved the news on hearing it. He penned on Twitter, “Rituraj!!!! Can’t believe this!” He explained how the two became good friends on set and admitted that though it had been a while since they had hung out, he still had “such fond memories”. Mehta further reminisced him as an “untapped actor and a warm human. Gone suddenly and too early.”
Varun Dhawan, who played Rituraj Singh’s son in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, took to Instagram to pay tribute to his on-screen father. Varun posted a story with a still from the film and wrote how he had always had a wonderful time working with “Rituraj sir”. He also mentioned how he had met the late actor only a few months back on the set of Baby John.
Sonu Sood also took to Twitter to mourn Rituraj Singh’s death and left a simple but sincere tribute.
Rituraj Singh had worked in numerous TV serials like Adaalat, Anupamaa, Hitler Didi, Diya Aur Baati Hum, and multiple popular OTT shows like Bandish Bandits, Made in Heaven, and Indian Police Force. The actor’s acting stamina and versatility, as well as his warm presence, will be sincerely missed by all.
