The trailer of the much-awaited film Rifle Club, helmed by Aashiq Abu, has been unveiled. The trailer of the film, starring an ensemble cast including Dileesh Pothan, Anurag Kashyap, Darshana Rajendran and Vani Vishwanath, has given us a glimpse of the gripping narrative that is set to unravel on the big screen. Rifle Club is slated to release worldwide on December 19, 2025.
The trailer begins with Dileesh Pothan’s character explaining the reward of hunting, which is followed by shots of the carcass of a hunted animal being transported along with a thumping background score. Then we see Vineeth Kumar, who appears to be essaying the role of a film actor, listening to a piece of news being read out about Mrugaya, for which Mammootty stayed in the Edakkal cave, as part of method acting. This hints that the movie could be set during the late 1980s or early 1990s, considering that Mrugaya released in 1989.
The trailer then gives us glimpses of the lead characters Darshana Rajendran, Vani Vishwanath, Surabhi Lakshmi, and Vijaya Raghavan, among others. Rapper Hanumankind, who rose to fame with the English song Big Dawgs, also makes a stylish entry. The trailer soon goes into attack mode as shots are fired, and we finally get a glimpse of Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.
Kashyap, who is making his Malayalam debut with Rifle Club, appears to be playing a character from the Hindi belt. Towards the end of the trailer, his character tells another in Hindi 'Tu na jaake Puttu kadala khaake aa, Sabhko leke ja.'
Another interesting aspect of the trailer is that the women characters, including Darshana Rajendran, Unnimaya Prasad and Surabhi Lakshmi, are seen wielding guns, assuring the viewers that they would not be left out as the actual hunt begins.
With its action-packed sequences, quirky characters and gripping narrative, the movie promises to be a riveting thriller.
The film features a stellar cast, including Dileesh Pothan, Anurag Kashyap, Unnimaya Prasad, Darshana Rajendran, Vijaya Raghavan, Suresh Krishna, Vani Viswanath, Ponnamma Babu, and Surabhi Lakshmi, among others
On the technical front, Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Karunakaran, and Suhas have collaborated on the script, while Rex Vijayan composed the original score and songs. Filmmaker Aashiq Abu also handles the cinematography, while the editing is by V Saajan.
