Actress Richa Chadha always takes her craft seriously, so her preparation is intense to get into any character for films or web series. Now, she has found a good reason to go back to her first love - Indian classical dance, especially Kathak. Richa is a trained Kathak dancer and will be seen showing off her talent in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series, Heeramandi, for which she has been learning Kathak once again.
Talking about going back to dance class, the Inside Edge actress said, "I trained in Kathak as a child under Pt Abhay Shankar Mishra for 10 years. Then, life happened and my love for dance got left behind. I was afraid as I had lost my touch, since any art form requires practice. But when I went back to Kathak classes for Heeramandi, it kind of felt like swimming, and I think I can float without a lifejacket."
Explaining more about the power of dance and movement, Richa said, "I think dance has the potential to make a person feel more connected, grounded, confident and happier. Movement is medicine."
She also hopes to complete her degree in kathak this year, under the aegis of her guru, Pt. Rajendra Chaturvedi.
Heeramandi, a web series for Netflix, is an ambitious project by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, Fardeen Khan and Paresh Pahuja.
Apart from the series, Richa has finished working on an untitled film and has also wrapped up the shoot of Girls Will Be Girls - the first movie of her home production. The film is an Indo-French co-production that is being jointly produced by Pushing Buttons Studios, Crawling Angel Films and the French company, Dolce Vita Films. Richa will also be seem in the much-awaited Fukrey 3.
