Revealed: Release date of Samantha Ruth Prabhu's sci-fi survival thriller, Yashoda

After a successful run in theatres, Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Telugu film Yashoda, co-directed by Haresh Narayan and K Hari Shankar, is all set to release on Amazon Prime Video on December 9.

The story of the film revolves around the journey of a woman Yashoda, played by Samantha, who joins a surrogate program under a certain situation and how things go haywire, revealing things about a high-end surrogate facility.

A sci-fi survival thriller also has Unni Mukundan, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Sampath Raj and Murali Sharma in pivotal roles.

Producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad said that the story of Yashoda shows a woman in her ultimate power, laced with the powerful performance of Samantha. It has been much appreciated by audience across the nation, which the team is thrilled about.

The director of the film, Hareesh Narayan, said, "Survival thrillers have always given viewers a special thrill, given their wide appeal. When Yashoda was written, we knew that the audience would find it a thrilling adventure that is worth watching. Samantha’s performance and the incredible work done by the team has all paid off."

He also expressed his excitement about its release on Amazon Prime Video and how the global audience will react to the film.

Adding to this, co-director K Hari Shankar said, "Yashoda is a rare masterpiece in India’s sci-fi genre, and a lot of exemplary minds have come together to bring the story to screen."

He also mentioned that such stories being made in the South Indian film industry and receiving a lot of appreciation across the country, beyond the region, is a matter of pride for the makers. A release on an OTT platform allows the story to travel globally, which is great for the filmmakers, as it will now cater to the global audience.

Yashoda releases on Amazon Prime Video in Telugu on December 9. The Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam dubbed version will also release on the same date.
