PremiumREVEALED: Rajat Barmecha’s connection with Sachin Tendulkar in his film Kacchey Limbu
The actor also revealed the ‘secret’ behind his jersey number 24

The child star actor of the much-appreciated film ‘Udaan’ has now grown up into a full-fledged actor. His latest release is the critically acclaimed Kacchey Limbu, a sports drama film which has been written and directed by Shubham Yogi. The film features Rajat Barmecha along with Radhika Madan in lead roles. The film sees Rajat playing the role of Akash who dreams of becoming a cricketer, much against to his father’s wish of him getting into a corporate job. And, during the cricket match, Rajat chooses to have his jersey number as 24, which is also his birthday and also the birthday of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar as well!
Talking about the same, Rajat said, “I am born on April 24 and, hence, I share my birthday with Sachin Tendulkar. This (‘Kacchey Limbu’) being a cricket film and 24 being my guiding number, I wanted my jersey number to be 24. With this, in some way, I could connect with the great Sachin Tendulkar while playing the role of batsman and it indeed was exhilarating.”
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Rajat had revealed the reason to say yes to the film. He said, “Firstly, when I read the script, I really, really connected. I have a sister in real life. So, I felt extremely connected with the script. Also, at the same time, Nihan and who's the producer of the film, is a very good friend of mine. That’s how I got the film. I felt that my character in the film is completely opposite to who I am in real life. So, I felt it would be a very interesting and challenging for me to pull this off. Because I'm nowhere close to being what Aakash is. And, I think as an actor, that really excited me when I have to really work on a character”.
Besides Rajat Barmecha, the film ‘Kacchey Limbu’ also stars Ayush Mehra and Radhika Madaan in the leading roles. The film is being streamed on JioCinema.
