Actor Suriya, who is expecting the release of his film Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has announced that he wrapped up dubbing for the film. With just a month to go for the release, Retro is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1.

Retro is an upcoming 2025 Tamil film starring actor Suriya in the lead role. Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj in his maiden collaboration with the actor, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1.
On Wednesday, Suriya took to social media to announce that he has wrapped up the dubbing of Retro. A short video from the dubbing studio was released, with the makers of Retro joining the Ghibli trend using AI and recreating an image of Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj from the studio.
Retro is touted to be a romantic action thriller, marking Suriya's 44th film. The movie also stars Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Joju George, and Karunakaran. Produced by Suriya and Jyotika under their 2D Entertainment banner, Retro is scheduled to release in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.

Kanimma song from Retro becomes social media sensation
Recently, the makers released the second single from the film, Kanimma. Scored by Santhosh Narayanan, the song became viral after its release, making it trend on social media reels and many recreating the hook step. Pooja Hegde, who is known for her onscreen charisma, was hailed for her dance moves.
Retro is expected to blend elements of action, romance, and thriller with a unique storyline. Suriya’s character is expected to be intense, showcasing his versatility as an actor. He will be sharing screen space with Pooja Hegde for the first time.
Retro is one of the most anticipated films, given how Suriya’s last film Kanguva bombed at the box office and received negative reviews. The actor is also working with filmmaker RJ Balaji for his next film, which is tentatively titled Suriya 45.
