Renu Desai returns to Telugu cinema after 18 years with Ravi Teja's Tiger Nageswara Rao; here's her first look

Ever since Renu Desai bid goodbye to films after Pawan Kalyan's Johnny, giving more priority to her familial interests, there have been constant reports of her comeback from time to time. While there were rumours that she was to return to limelight with Adivi Sesh's Major, it didn't turn out to be true. Now, she's donning the grease paint after a sabbatical for Ravi Teja's pan-Indian project, Tiger Nageswara Rao, the biopic of the infamous thief from Stuartpuram village in Andhra Pradesh.

While it was more or less official that she was part of team Tiger Nageswara Rao at the film's grand launch held earlier this year, the makers confirmed the news by sharing her character name and the first look too. She will be essaying a significant role named Hemalatha Lavanam, a part inspired by the real-life personality by the same name. She was believed to be a social worker and writer who fought for equality in society and waged a battle against untouchability.

In a special video released today to introduce her character, she is walking like a woman on a mission accompanied by two other activists donning white saris. Nupur Sanon and Gayatri Bhardwaj are cast as the female leads in the actioner that'll simultaneously release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages. GV Prakash scores the music for the film while R Madhie handles cinematography. Srikanth Vissa pens the dialogues with Avinash Kolla taking care of production design.

Anupam Kher too plays an important role in this action-drama being made on a massive scale. Abhishek Agarwal, who had bankrolled films like Karthikeya 2 and The Kashmir Files this year, is producing it under Abhishek Agarwal Arts. Tej Narayan Agarwal presents the film and Mayank Singhaniya is the co-producer. Meanwhile, Ravi Teja is next awaiting the release of Dhamaka, an action entertainer directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina that also stars Sreeleela.
