Malayalam star Asif Ali seems to be a lucky charm for the producers of Rekhachithram. Its producer Venu Kunnapilly had previously joined hands with the actor for 2018: Everyone Is A Hero, which went on to become the second-highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, and now their latest collaboration is also on track to become a top grosser in the industry.

Film industry trackers had predicted that the Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan-starrer would cross Rs 10 Cr from India alone after its first weekend. The mystery thriller collected Rs 11.40 Cr from India and also extended its worldwide collections to Rs 28.3 Cr in four days.

Rekhachithram aims for Rs 50 Cr at the box office

The Jofin T Chacko directorial had already fetched the highest opening-day gross for an Asif Ali-starrer at the Kerala box office, raking in Rs 1.9 Cr. It further improved its earnings with Rs 2.2 Cr, Rs 3.3 Cr, and Rs 4 Cr from India markers on Day 2, 3, and 4, respectively.

The cameo of megastar Mammootty along with positive reviews for the film also helped the movie, which has been declared a hit already. Rekhachithram was the second major Malayalam release in 2025 after Tovino Thomas’ Identity, which hit theatres on January 2.

Meanwhile, the film’s director Jofin, in an interview with OTTplay, said that he was confident that the movie would work with the audience, due to its “fresh” theme. Rekhachithram revolves around an investigation into a missing woman, who is traced to the sets of Mammootty’s Kaathodu Kaathoram four decades ago.

Rekhachithram belongs to the alternate-history genre of movies and has Jagadeesh, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, and Zarin Shihab in pivotal roles. The film has only been released in Malayalam.
