Zack Snyder’s return to our screens as a director was celebrated last year with much buzz, which continued until April 2024. We are, of course, talking about the Rebel Moon franchise, which kicked off with Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire in December last year and released the second part, Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver, in April this year. While the reviews from critics were mixed, audiences quickly embraced the movies, causing a significant rise in streaming charts.

Don't be surprised if Netflix announces a third film soon. However, before that, there is also a director’s cut for both movies that has been teased. Snyder has just revealed the release dates along with new titles. Read on to learn everything about this surprising and exciting update.

Rebel Moon Director’s Cut

The news of Rebel Moon having a director’s cut is not new at this point. Zack Snyder spoke about it throughout the promotional tour. What is fascinating now is that both movies are set to have their separate director’s cuts on streaming, providing even more Rebel Moon content to watch. In a post on X (formerly called Twitter), Snyder revealed an August release date for the director’s cuts for both parts, featuring new titles that are quite unexpected.

The New Titles & Release Date

According to Zack Snyder's post on X, both Rebel Moon movies, A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, will have their separate director’s cuts on Netflix, dropping on the same day. They will be available exclusively on Netflix starting August 2, 2024. Additionally, the movies have been given new titles: Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire is now Chapter One: Chalice of Blood, and Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver is now Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness.

The two director's cuts have been given an R rating for brutal, bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, and language. The original cuts on Netflix were edited according to PG-13 guidelines. Snyder has confirmed that these new cuts will contain more adult-oriented content, which will not be suitable for children.

Zack Snyder On Rebel Moon Director's Cut

Discussing this in the recent past, Zack Snyder said to Comic Book Movie, "They're each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]. So it'll be nice to spend the six hours together. You can take a break, of course. It's a more, maybe, immersive experience. I'm interested for people to see it that way. It's very adult, it's very R-rated."

Both parts of Rebel Moon (PG-13 cuts) are now streaming on Netflix. The director’s cuts will be available starting August 2, 2024. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else in the world of streaming and films.
