It won't be wrong to say the latest Malayalam blockbuster RDX is one of the most-awaited movies in the OTT space. The producers had kept the movie's digital premiere date under wraps to maintain the focus on its theatrical success. It was revealed only on the eve of the movie's OTT debut.
It was a very strategic move by the producers as the possibility of an early announcement of the movie's OTT release date undercutting its earning potential at the box office was high. So the producers kept the fans guessing till the last minute.
RDX, one of 2023's biggest commercial hit
The movie received ample theatrical window at the box office since its release on August 25. The movie has overcome several hurdles in becoming one of the highest-earning movies in Malayalam cinema this year.
Just hours before its much-awaited OTT debut, RDX crossed a major milestone at the box office. The movie raked in about Rs 100 crore from its worldwide ticket sales. Unlike its neighbouring industries, a movie collecting Rs 100 crore is almost a rarity in the Malayalam film industry. Especially, nobody expected a movie like RDX to go to more than box office milestones.

The production of RDX was marred by several controversies, including the ego clashes between its three leading men: Shane Nigam, Neeraj Madhav and Antony Varghese. And when finally the movie was released it didn't get a wide release owing to the intense competition from other big star movies, including Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer, Duqluer Salmaan's King of Kotha and Nivin Pauly's Ramachandra Boss & Co.

However, RDX beat all the odds to become the biggest winner among all the Onam releases this year.
Helmed by Nahas Hidayath, RDX revolves around three best friends and their penchant for street fights.
