The makers of Minnal Murali seem to have pulled off another feat with their next movie RDX. Producer Sophia Paul, who had previously backed Tovino Thomas’ superhero film that released directly on Netflix, has also managed to bag a good deal for her upcoming venture RDX, which has Neeraj Madhav, Shane Nigam and Antony Varghese as part of its cast.

RDX, which is a period action entertainer, is helmed by debutant director Nahas Hidayath and revolves around three youngsters – Robert, Doney and Xavier – who have a knack for getting into fights at the most inopportune of moments. Years later, after they seem to have shaped up, a conflict in one of their personal lives, forces the trio to revisit their past and all hell breaks loose.

OTT rights of RDX sold to Netflix

According to reports, the makers of the movie have partnered with Netflix, just like they did for their previous release Minnal Murali. However, unlike Minnal Murali, RDX will be released in theatres first. The movie is currently scheduled to hit the big screen on August 25 as an Onam release along with Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha and Nivi n Pauly’s Ramachandra Boss & Co.

The OTT release date of the movie is yet to be announced. However, with theatre exhibitors urging for a longer window, the performance of the film in theatres will decide whether RDX will release on Netflix by end of September or will be delayed till October 2023.

RDX – a big-budget action-thriller

In an earlier interview with us, Nahas Hidayath, who had helmed a few short films earlier, had approached the makers of RDX with the idea of the film post pandemic. The director said that the producers were looking for a film that could offer a big-screen experience for the audience and this script fit the bill. His only demand was that the movie should have the services of action choreographers Anbariv, who were behind the stunts of movies such as KGF and Vikram.

The movie has five massive action scenes and that team seems to have spared no expense to ensure that it makes for a theatrical experience for the audience this festive season.
