RDX: Robert Dony Xavier, the Onam release that emerged as a box-office winner in the domestic market, has now earned over ₹80 crores worldwide. Helmed by debutant director Nahas Hidayath, the action thriller film features Shane Nigam, Antony Varghese and Neeraj Madhav in title roles. Within three weeks of its release, RDX collected ₹50 crores at the Kerala box office, making it the seventh-highest grosser in the state and the fifth-highest grossing Malayalam film globally. RDX had earlier surpassed the worldwide collections of Mohanlal’s Drishyam and Nivin Pauly’s Premam.

RDX has managed to impress the audience despite competition from other big releases around the same time, such as King of Kotha and Ramachandra Boss & Co. Given the pace at which the movie is racing at the box office, many are hoping that the film will reach the ₹100 crore mark in worldwide collections soon - a milestone previously achieved by films such as Lucifer, Pulimurugan and 2018: Everyone is a Hero.

RDX’s OTT release

It is thought that RDX’s OTT release (on Netflix) may impact its theatrical revenue. It is not yet clear yet when the movie will be released on the streaming platform, as the Kerala Film Chamber previously set a 42-day gap between theatrical and OTT releases. The film’s performance in the coming days will determine its OTT release.

RDX’s plot and cast

RDX is an action-packed film that revolves around three friends - Robert, Dony and Xavier - and their lives during their early and later years. Similar to Tovino Thomas’s Thallumaala, the film’s action sequences are its highlights. The lead actors received training in various martial arts for their characters. The cast also includes veteran actors Babu Antony, Maala Parvathy, Lal, Nishanth Sagar, Vishnu Agasthya and Baiju Santhosh. Mahima Nambiar, known for her performance in Kuttram 23 and Madhura Raja, plays the female lead along with Aima Rose Sebastian.
