It's a twin treat for Malayalam actor Shane Nigam this Onam! The Kumbalangi Nights actor, who was unofficially banned by the Malayalam film producers and actors’ bodies earlier this year, due to “lack of discipline” on film sets, is part of two upcoming movies – RDX and Vela – that will play a pivotal role in charting his career forward.

RDX, which is helmed by debutant filmmaker Nahas Hidayath and has Shane along with Antony Varghese and Neeraj Madhav, will hit theatres on August 25 as an Onam release. But ahead of the movie, the audience will also get to see a glimpse of Shane in director Syam Sasi’s Vela, which also stars Sunny Wayne.

The trailer of Vela, which also has Sidharth Bharathan and Sunny Wayne in pivotal roles, will be screened along with Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha on August 24. The film is produced by S George, who had also backed Mammootty’s direct-to-OTT release Puzhu. Both Puzha and Vela will be distributed by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films that has also produced King of Kotha.

Vela has Shane Nigam essaying the role of a civil police officer. Scripted by M Sajas, who had written Asif Ali’s Mandaram, the film is touted to be a drama-thriller. It also marked the first-ever cop role for Shane, who also went on to don the khaki and boots in Priyadarshan’s Corona Papers earlier this year.

RDX theatrical and OTT release

Meanwhile, RDX will have the actor essay two phases of his character’s life. The movie, which is an all-out action entertainer, will see Shane in an action-intensive role, with KGF: Chapter 2 and Vikram’s stunt choreographers Anbariv setting up five massive action sequences as part of its narrative.
