Razakar was a much-anticipated Telugu film that garnered significant attention before its release. Based on Nizam’s rule in Hyderabad, the film featured some popular actors in lead roles and hit the screens on March 15, 2024. Although the movie received some praise for its honest portrayal, it turned out to be a box-office failure. The situation worsened when the makers struggled to find a suitable OTT platform to sell the digital rights.
Eventually, Aha stepped in and acquired the digital rights at a reasonable price, putting the filmmakers in a safer financial position. As reported earlier by OTTplay, Razakar became available for streaming on January 24, 2025. The period drama is now streaming on Aha and has had a decent start. The makers have left no stone unturned in promoting the digital release, which has gone viral over the past few days.
Directed by Yata Satyanarayana and produced by Gudur Narayana Reddy, Razakar featured Vedhika, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Makrand Deshpande, and Bobby Simha in pivotal roles. The film was made on a large budget but unfortunately failed to perform at the box office.
Razakar portrays the struggles in the erstwhile Hyderabad State after India gained independence on August 15, 1947. While the rest of the country celebrated its freedom, Hyderabad State remained under Nizam’s rule for another year. The filmmakers have depicted these events in a gritty and intense manner.
According to a source close to Aha, Razakar has made an impressive debut on the streaming platform, garnering significant views within a short period. With its OTT trailer capturing the attention of many, the film is expected to reach a wider audience in the coming days.
The music, composed by the talented Bheems Ceciroleo, received considerable praise, particularly for its impactful background score. Anasuya Bharadwaj's performance in a key role also stood out, earning acclaim for her fierce portrayal and striking dialogue delivery. Her bold look in the film is one of its highlights. It will be interesting to see how many more views Razakar clocks in the days ahead.
