Produced by Karan Johar, Kapoor & Sons starred Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, alongside Fawad Khan, late Rishi Kapoor, and Ratna Pathak Shah. One of 2016's most successful films, its soundtrack was just as popular with audiences as the film itself. At joyful gatherings, the song Kar Gayi Chull is a must-play even now, having become everyone's party anthem. The song is picturised on Alia and Sidharth.
A nod to Raveena Tandon was in the song that Badshah co-wrote and co-performed alongside Fazilpuria, Sukriti Kakar, and Neha Kakkar. The lyrics were, "Kya naache tu Dilli, hile hai London, matak matak jaise Raveena Tandon."
For the uninitiated, Karan met the actor, who was terrified of her husband Anil Thadani, before using her name in the song. The actor recalled this incident on Indian Idol Season 16, nearly a decade later, after the song became a chartbuster.
The actor said during her most recent appearance on the musical reality show that she remembers Karan calling her. He said that he wants her permission to use her name in a song after they had their conversation. "How sweet" was Raveena's first reaction upon hearing that, while, of course, adding, "Use it." However, he remained uncertain and asked, "What about Anil Thadani? He won't hit me, will he?" he asked afterwards. Before anything, he needs to get Anil's OK. Thereafter, Karan told them those two lines, and they thought they were adorable. No matter what Anil decides, she was like, It's a yes from her.
The fact that they were already huge Badshah fans was also brought up by her.
After nine years on the market, Kar Gayi Chull—which Sony Music India released in 2016—has amassed 502 million views. Meanwhile, Kapoor & Sons was both written and directed by Shakun Batra.
