Director Sudheer Varma, known for his action thrillers and comedies like Swamy Ra Ra, Keshava, Saakini Daakini and Ranarangam, is quite hopeful of the fate of his next release, Ravanasura. The film, written by Srikanth Vissa, stars Ravi Teja, Sushanth, Anu Emmanuel, Faria Abdullah and Megha Akash in lead roles and is gearing up for a worldwide release on April 7. At Ravanasura’s pre-release event held yesterday, the filmmaker opened up about his experiences.
“The first call I received after Swamy Ra Ra was from Ravi Teja. We developed a good rapport when I was an assistant director on the sets of Anjaneyulu. We had discussed several scripts over time but it didn’t work out. One day, he called me to listen to story written by Srikanth Vissa. I heard it and thought it was a fantastic story. I was delighted they chose me for the project,” he said.
“I won’t say I’ll project Ravi Teja in a different light; he is capable of doing anything on screen and I won’t make tall promises. All I’m sure of is Ravanasura’s ability to shock and surprise you, I hope we do that. That’s the reason we’ve kept everything under wraps in the promos. I thank my leading ladies - Faria, Megha, Pujita, Daksha and Anu - for their contributions,” the filmmaker added.

“I promise you’ll get to witness Sushanth in a never-seen-before avatar and he has performed very well. He’ll be the surprise package. This is my second project with Abhishek Nama and I enjoyed working with him. This film wouldn’t have happened without Srikanth Vissa. Music director Harshavardhan Rameshwar, art director Kiran, editor Navin were crucial for the teaser and the trailer. The team behind RT Team Works and the production team did a fine job,” he stated.
