Ravi Teja scored back to back hits with Waltair Veerayya and Dhamaka. So, he chose a serious thriller as his next and did a film called Ravanasura which was directed by thriller specialist Sudheer Varma. The crime thriller was released last Friday to very dull reviews all over. The day one collections were decent but the film had to pack a punch on the weekend to stay afloat.
The numbers have come in and Ravanasura has made only 9 crores share in its first weekend all over the world. These are quite low numbers considering Ravi Teja's craze and star status. As the film was a serious drama, the fans and family audience did not connect much. Also, the lack of proper thrills and hit songs spoiled the film's run at the box office.
Now that the weekdays have started, things will become quite difficult. The makers had proper release plans as they released Ravanasura on the long weekend of Good Friday. But sadly, the film could not capitalize on the opportunity and is having a very dull run. This has given Nani's Dasara more scope to do well at the box office. In a few areas, Dasara collected more than Ravanasura on day three.
Along with Ravanasura, Kiran Abbavaram's Meter was also released on the same day. The film is a washout at the box office and is being removed from most of the theaters. Meanwhile, Ravi Teja is quite happy about Ravanasura as his negative has been appreciated a lot by his fans and critics alike. He will next be seen in Tiger Nageswara Rao which is a biopic.
