Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Rautu Ki Beli, now titled Rautu Ka Raaz, is scheduled to release on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium soon. The makers have unveiled more about the movie, a direct-to-digital release, through the trailer that they have unveiled some time ago. In the trailer, we see Nawazuddin play a smart cop in what is a lazy village.
In the trailer, we see Nawazuddin in the role of a cop named Inspector Deepak Negi, and Rajesh Kumar’s Naresh Dimri helping him out in the investigation. Negi has been brought in to solve a murder in the small hill station of Rautu, which is in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand.
There’s a murder in Sevadhaam school, and gossip has spread in the hill station like wildfire. The village is named Rautu Ki Beli, and everything there is expected to be weird.
Cops from the hill station believe that it cannot be murder because people die, or kill themselves. This is because there hasn’t been a single murder in 15 years. The same sets the tone for how lazy this village is. To confirm that, we hear that the crime record of Rautu Ki Beli is like the mood of the hill station – slow and relaxed.
Meanwhile, Negi and Dimri discuss what is wrong with the hill station. Dimri further tries to convince Negi that nothing is wrong, and it probably might not be murder. That is when Negi says that since Uttarakhand Police has name and respect, they have to go ahead and solve the case. While some pretend to search every nook and corner of the house where the death took place, others eat in the middle of the investigation, or leave mid-way to go to the temple. Not just that, the medical team also states that it will take time to know the cause of the death.
As a smart cop, Negi figures that the only way to find out about the murder is to see beyond the obvious and look for what is hidden. In another scene though, Negi is upset because he was woken up after having trouble sleeping in the first place.
In the middle of the serious investigation, there are always moments which promise to be fun. The biggest example of that is the talk of hard disk.
Directed by Anand Surapur, Rautu Ka Raaz also stars Atul Tiwari as Tanuj Mehra and Narayani Shastri as Warden Sangeeta. The movie will be available on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium from June 28.
