Vijay Antony's upcoming crime drama, Raththam is said to revolve around the political-criminal nexus that controls the lives of people. The film is directed by CS Amudhan and will drop in theatres on Friday.

The power-packed trailer
Going by the trailer, the plot deals with a series of murders that wreak havoc in Chennai and leads to the expulsion of four ministers from the state cabinet. The film explores the connection among the four pillars of the society in the incident, and how they affect an average person's life. Vijay Antony seems to be working with the police and media to uncover the truth.

Check out the trailer below.

Maiden collaboration between Vijay Antony and CS Amudhan
CS Amudhan and Vijay Antony's association goes a long way back. The actor had revealed that it was Amudhan's father who taught him music during his initial days as a composer in the industry.

"Amudhan and I had been planning to work together for a long time now and it's only after ten years that we got the opportunity. I have enjoyed watching his films. As a director, I have a lot of respect for him."

Star cast
Raththam stars Mahima Nambiar, Nandita Swetha, and Uday Mahesh among others. Nandita Swetha plays a media professional in the film.

Technical crew
Kannan Narayanan has composed the music and lyrics for the songs by Yuga Bharathi, Arivu, Uma Devi, K Chandru . While the cinematography is by Gopi Amarnath, editing is by TS Suresh. Dhilip Subbarayan has helmed the stunt sequences.

An October 2023 Release
Raththam was initially supposed to hit screens on September 28, but due to overcrowding of films, the release got pushed. After the demise of Vijay Antony's daughter last month, speculations were rife that the film's release would once again be postponed, but the makers revealed that the film will drop in theatres as planned. Vijay Antony also began promoting the film after a few days of the travesty.

Raththam, bankrolled by Infiniti Film Ventures, has been censored with the 'U/A' certificate. Raththam marks Vijay Antony's fourth film of 2023 after Tamilarasan, Pichaikkaran 2 and Kolai, which met with lukewarm response.
