For years, rumours about the biopic of the late musician Kishore Kumar have been in the news. The movie, according to rumours, will be directed by Anurag Basu and star Ranbir Kapoor as Kishore Kumar. A recent development, meanwhile, suggest something else.
According to rumours, Ranveer Singh may take over Ranbir Kapoor's role as Kishore Kumar in the biopic.
As per Hindustan Times report, Ranbir Kapoor said, “Main 11 saal se Kishore Kumar ke biopic pe kaam kar raha hoon. We have been writing that with Anurag Basu and I’m hoping that it’s gonna be my next biopic. But maine abhi tak dada ke upar jo biopic ban rahi hai uske baare mein kuch suna nahi hai.”
But in another interview with GoodTiMes, the 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' said, “I’ve not signed anything after Animal. I haven’t signed a film yet and I’m not looking for anything also. I would like to take a little bit of a break to understand after Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar and Animal where I stand, where the film industry stands.”
Following these remarks, producers are purportedly considering to cast Ranveer Singh in the part. According to Mid-Day, the producers intend to speak with Ranveer Singh. The final decision on the film's casting, though, might be made in or around August. By the end of 2023, Kishore Kumar's biopic is most likely to start production.
A source cited by the news portal revealed, “With the makers now discussing the possibility of a casting change, Ranveer has emerged as an obvious choice. His ability to immerse himself in a wide range of characters makes him a perfect fit to bring the maestro’s maverick personality to the screen. But Anurag is still hopeful about casting his frequent collaborator Ranbir. The top brass at T-Series, which is bankrolling the film, will take a call after August as they want to take the movie on floors by the year-end.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranveer Singh is gearing up for the release of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Ranbir Kapoor, on the other hand, will soon be seen in Animal. In addition to this, he is currently working on parts two and three of Brahmastra.
