Ranbir Kapoor's Animal CRUSHES Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 at worldwide box office; earns ₹717 crore

Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, has minted ₹717 crore at the box office globally. This surpasses the lifetime worldwide collection of Sunny Deol's Gadar 2.

Ranbir Kapoor's Animal is a box-office hit! Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film was released on December 1, 2023. Despite a clash with Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur, Ranbir's film has emerged as a money-spinner at the ticket window. Within 10 days of its theatrical run, Anmal minted ₹717.46 crore at the worldwide box office. With this, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial has shattered the lifetime global box office record of Sunny Deol's Gadar 2.

Animal BEATS Gadar 2

A while ago, the makers of Animal shared official global box office figures of the movie. The official handle of Animal, on X, revealed that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer earned ₹717.46 crore at the worldwide BO. As far as Gadar 2 is concerned, the Sunny Deol movie's lifetime global collection is ₹691.08 crore.

For those who are unaware, Gadar 2 hit the silver screen on August 11, 2023. The Anil Sharma directorial clashed with Akshay Kumar's Oh My God 2 at the ticket window. While both films did well, OMG 2 trailed behind Gadar 2 just like Sam Bahadur has maintained a slow pace compared to Animal.

Animal shatters Sanju's box office record

A few days ago, Ranbir's Animal shattered the lifetime collection of his 2018 film Sanju. The worldwide collection of Rajkumar Hirani's movie is ₹586.85 crore whereas Animal easily raced past ₹600 crore at the box office. 

About the film

Helmed by Vanga, Animal features Ranbir in the role of Ranvijay Singh. The role of his father has been essayed by Anil Kapoor while Rashmika Mandanna is seen as his love interest Geentanjali. On the other hand, Bobby Deol essayed the part of antagonist Abrar.

It has been also confirmed that the film's sequel, Animal Park will be made. Neetu Kapoor is expected to be a part of the movie, which will star her son Ranbir in a double role. As for Triptii Dimri, the actress is likely to enjoy more screen time in the film.
