The fourth installment of the Dhoom franchise, backed by Yash Raj Films, is reportedly set to be led by Ranbir Kapoor.

The 'Dhoom' franchise has been loved by the audience and the main attraction of the film always have been the cast. The film franchise began in 2004 with John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra in the lead, it created a stir among the audience and then the charm of the film continued. The fourth installment of the film is now in the works and we have a new update from the film.
According to recent reports, Ranbir Kapoor has now joined the cast of this YRF-backed film. According to Pinkvilla, the film has now officially entered the pre-production stage at YRF under the supervision of Aditya Chopra. Discussions with Ranbir to headline the action drama have been happening for a while and they have finally fallen into place.
A source told the portal, "Dhoom is a franchise dear to Aditya Chopra, and he has decided to reboot the franchise keeping in line with the current times. Like all previous parts, the script of Dhoom 4 (Dhoom Reloaded) is been developed by Aditya Chopra with Vijay Krishna Acharya. The idea and vision is to create a cinematic experience like never before with the fourth Dhoom film."
The report further added that the discussions about the film with Ranbir Kapoor have been happening since a very long time. The actor has also shown his interest in the project after hearing the basic idea of the franchise and now has finally confirmed the project. "Adi Chopra feels that RK is the ideal choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy,” added the source.
Talking about Ranbir's character, he is set to play the negative lead in the film. None of the OG actors of the film will return in the franchise but reports reveal that two big heroes from the young generation will come on board as cop buddies in Dhoom 4. "Now that the core story-board is locked, the team will proceed to the casting stage. Dhoom 4 will not just be the biggest Dhoom film, but also a tentpole feature film of global standard from Indian Cinema,” the source informed.
