Rana Sarkar: Kuntal did not foot Priyanka Sarkar’s medical bills

A number of artists’ names from the Bengali film industry are allegedly under the radar of the Enforcement Directorate after a series of arrests took place pertaining to the SSC scam. After the arrest of Kuntal Ghosh, Bonny Sengupta was summoned to the ED office. After interrogations, he returned the money which he allegedly got from Kuntal. In fact, the name of actress Priyanka Sarkar also surfaced. It has been alleged that her medical bill post-accident was paid by the arrested TMC leader. Now, producer Rana Sarkar, whose Manabjamin has Priyanka in the lead, stood by the actress. 

“The accusations against Priyanka are false. Kuntal claimed that he paid her hospital bills. I was present that night,” he told the media. Kuntal Ghosh is accused of an appointment scam. He supposedly had contact with several Tollywood celebs. 

Rana told us, “I was in the hospital the entire time Priyanka was admitted. Many people came to see her, but their names are not coming. Kuntal might have come as her fan. I did everything, from admission to discharge.” Priyanka met with an accident in December 2021 while shooting Mahabharat Murders – a Hoichoi web series. According to sources close to the industry, her medical expenses were taken care of by the insurance company.  

Did Rana personally know Kuntal? The producer answered, “Yes. I previously stayed in a housing community, where Kuntal also resided. He used to party there and do many nasty things. Many residents complained about him. But I can surely tell that Priyanka did not have any personal relationship with him.”
