Rana Daggubati on his biggest takeaway from Rana Naidu: Realised I could understand the story only for 3 hours; that's what I've been used to | Exclusive

It's been almost a week since Rana Naidu premiered on Netflix. The series, which stars Rana Daggubati in the titular role, marks his full-fledged web series debut. Moreover, Rana Naidu also unites him with his uncle, veteran actor Venkatesh, on the screen. Earlier, during an exclusive interaction with OTTplay, Rana was asked about his biggest takeaway from being a part of this Netflix series, which is the Indian adaptation of Ray Donovan.

The actor told us, "It's been a great learning experience for me because this is my first show. It's really about understanding how these kinds of shows are written and how actors need to approach them. I'll tell you, the first month I was on the show, I was like, blank, for a simple reason. In my head, I realized I could understand the story only for three hours, and that's what I've been used to. And the minute it goes to seven or eight, I lose the strings of connection."

Recalling an incident, Rana stated, "I remember one day I walked onto the set, and they introduced me to the character. So we just got introduced right there. So we never did readings or anything. And the AD comes up to me and says, 'Sir, you have three scenes today.' I said, 'Okay, so where does this happen?' He said, 'One happens in episode two, one is in episode five, and one is in episode nine.' I asked, 'What happens in between all that?' He says, 'I don't know." So the length of that always used to baffle me a little bit in the beginning. I'd say it's a huge learning experience more than anything else; that'll be my biggest takeaway."

The actor also said, "To stay in that character, continue to understand the rhythms of who they are by learning from all these fine actors. Surveen Chawla, Abhishek Banerjee, and Sushant Singh—they were just great inputs for me."
