It’s quite rare for Kannada actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind to be dabbling with as many as 4 films at a time. Known to be quite choosy about the films he associates with, Ramesh’s upcoming slate has him quite excited about the roles he’s got. The actor, who celebrated his birthday on September 10, spoke to the media about his films, the first of which, Bhairadevi, is a horror thriller featuring Radhika Kumaraswamy, in which he plays a cop.

“I don’t take up every film that comes my way,” says Ramesh, as he begins to explain his rationale behind taking up his current kitty of 4 films. “Bhairadevi is pure horror and irrespective of whether we believe in ghosts and paranormal activities, it is something that intrigues everyone. But what I like about it is that it is a family-based subject. For instance, let’s say there is a family with a daughter; their wish would be to some day send her to another household, where she gets to be exactly as she was at home. My character is someone like that; he is also a strict police officer. The film is set for release in October,” he adds.

Daiji, which is also a horror film, reunites Ramesh with Akash Srivatsa, the director of Shivaji Suratkal 1 and 2, while Yours Sincerely Raam has Pushpaka Vimana producer Vikhyaath turning director. The actor also has a prominent role in Dhruva Sarja’s KD, directed by Prem, which is being planned as a December theatrical outing. Bhairadevi, meanwhile, has been shot in three languages – Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.

Ramesh was last seen in Shivaji Suratkal 2, which did not do well at the box office, and is yet to make it to OTT. Amid all his acting commitments, the actor is also looking at directing a film, the script for which is ready. “Screenplay and dialogue work is pending. It may take a while to get it on floors given my current schedules. I have not even begun looking for a producer.
