The Kannada actor-producer says that he will act in his directorial films, but the focus is strictly on filmmaking

It’s been a while since Rakshit Shetty last took to the director’s chair. As much as audiences love Rakshit the actor, they also dig Rakshit the filmmaker and his return to making cinema is currently in the works. As soon as he is done with the publicity and release of his current acting commitment Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, Rakshit will head to the set of Richard Anthony, the prequel to his film Ulidavaru Kandanthe.
A few months ago, Rakshit had tweeted his movie-making plan for the next few years , which included films like Punyakoti, Midway to Moksha, among others. And now, he has confirmed that acting will take a backseat as the filmmaker is back in action. Speaking at the trailer launch of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, Rakshit stated that his primary focus is going to be direction and while he will act in those films, other acting gigs may not happen for the foreseeable future. Unless, of course, Hemanth M Rao, the director of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, calls Rakshit with an offer for a role.
Elaborating on his decision, Rakshit said that when he made Ulidavaru Kandante, he had decided that he had to create a platform for himself and other good filmmakers to be able to present stories without compromising on anything. Rakshit had vowed to return to filmmaking only after creating such a platform. Paramvah Studios, he said, is a result of that decision and in doing so, he was able to produce a film that Hemanth has directed, which, Rakshit added, he is extremely proud of. “Paramvah Studios has reached the level that I envisioned, and from now on, I may not act in many films; I will direct more films,” he said.
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which is Rakshit’s second collaboration with Hemanth after Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu, is releasing in two parts, with the first slated to be in theatres on September 1 and the second on October 20.
