Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directed Bhaag Milkha Bhaag turned 10 years this month. The Farhan Akhtar starrer biographical sports drama is all set to re-release in theatres on August 6, however, it is going to be a special relaunch.

In a candid chat with OTTplay, Mehra shared the anecdotes of the special release, his thoughts on the film's success and more.

Talking about what makes the renowned film special, the filmmaker shared, "Yes, it is a celebration of a 10-year release and a whole new generation has come and joined this film, which is getting bigger by the day. When I meet people, they discuss this film with me and praise it as well. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag keeps inspiring people not just in our country but across the world and not only the young people who are associated with sports but men, women, parents, and grandparents across gender and across faith. Across a cross-section of people love it, whether they're rich or they're poor, it doesn't matter."

"First of all, we are keeping a special screening on July 26th for the people in the industry, the cast and makers of the film as well as the family of Milkha Singh Ji. He is not with us anymore but I feel that he lives forever," he added.

Furthermore, Mehra revealed the special purpose behind the re-release and mentioned, "Post that, we will release the film again in 30 cities of the country on August 6, but there is a bigger purpose behind this re-release. Our producer, P. S. Bharathi, has adapted the film for the deaf and dumb, for the hearing impaired people. The special release will see visuals of the film running together with a sign language video in a box beside it. It is basically to make the film more inclusive for the people who are challenged and to reach out to them. Besides that, the film is already on the OTT platform. People who are willing to rerun it again can watch it online as well."

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which also features Sonam Kapoor, Divya Dutta, Yograj Singh and Rebecca Breeds in key roles, is available to stream online on Disney+ Hotstar.
