Apart from being terrifying and beloved by audiences and characters alike, Bhool Bhulaiyaa's Manjulika and Stree share almost no other similarities. However, it appears that in 2024, one film will have had a significant impact on another. With the launch of advance booking on Sunday, the influence of Stree 2 became immediately apparent; today, we anticipate the film to have one of the largest openings of the year.
According to reports in Mid Day, rumour has it that the makers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 have rethought their strategy for releasing the film's teaser in light of the excitement surrounding Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's horror comedy.
In anticipation of Kartik Aaryan's Diwali 2024 release, the producers were planning to launch the teaser this week. So that the teaser doesn't get lost in all the excitement surrounding Stree 2, they have chosen to push it, according to a source.
Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Triptii Dimri are cast members of Anees Bazmee's directorial endeavour. The new installment brings Vidya Balan back to the horror comedy realm, where she co-starred with Akshay Kumar in the 2007 original.
Additionally, the report mentions that the fact that both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Stree 2 are horror comedies helped with the makers' selection. The producers hope to build on the phenomenal reception of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) with an even more ambitious third installment. It's a collaborative effort, yet the film is ambitious.
Furthermore, in Kartik's opinion, the teaser should not be split between two horror comedies but rather receive full focus.
Interestingly, Stree 2's theatrical run features the teaser for Chhava, which stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead. Laxman Utekar directs the historical drama, which is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Releasing on December 6, 2024, Chhava also stars Akshaye Khanna as the main antagonist, Aurangzeb, and Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead.
