Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao is currently basking in the glory of success after delivering the blockbuster Stree 2. While his newly released film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is not able to mirror the same box office result, it is going steady with mixed reviews. In a recent interview, the Stree actor revealed that he is not as rich and wealthy as his fans consider him despite his successful films.

Rajkummar Rao reacts to fans calling him rich

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s horror-comedy sequel Stree 2 shattered all previous records when it raked in approximately Rs 600 crore at the box office despite clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa. The film went on to become the highest-grossing film of 2024. In a recent conversation, Rajkummar revealed that he is not as rich as fans assume him to be as compared to other Bollywood stars. He also explained that though he has enough money, he still cannot purchase a 6-crore car instantly or without any second thoughts because he is still paying the EMI of his house.

He shared, “Yaar, honestly itna paisa hai nahi jitna logon ko lagta hoga ki ye toh bhai Rs 100 crore hai. Itna nahi hai. Bhai, EMI chal rahi hai. Matlab ghar liya hua hai, uski EMI hai achhi khasi. Toh matlab aisa bhi nahi hai ki nahi hai. Par aise wala bhi nahi ki aaj mann kiya ki showroom mein ja ke, ‘Kitne ki hai wo?’ ‘Sir, Rs 6 crore ki.’ ‘De de.’ (I don’t have that much money as people assume that I have Rs 100 crore. I don’t have that much. I’ve been paying a large EMI for a house I bought. It’s not like I don’t have the money but also, I cannot instantly purchase a car worth Rs 6 crore when visiting a showroom).”

The actor mentioned that while he can afford to buy a car worth Rs 50 lakh, it will happen only after a serious discussion. While he can conveniently buy one worth Rs 20 lakh currently, he will have to give a thought for investing Rs 50 lakh on a car. He also added that too much money overnight often messes with actors’ psyche.

Rajkummar Rao’s films

Rajkummar was recently seen in Raaj Shaandilyaa’s family comedy film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video alongside Triptii Dimri. The movie clashed with Alia Bhatt’s Jigra as both the films released on October 11. Mallika Sherawat, and Vijay Raaz also appear in key roles. The actor is also gearing up for his next actioner titled Malik, where he will be seen performing some gripping action sequences.
