There was a whole lot of mutual respect and encouragement between the winners of the inaugural edition of OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023, with actors such as Rajkummar Rao, Rishab Shetty, Joju George and Basil Joseph lauding each other during their winning speeches.
The evening kicked off with Malayalam actors Basil and Joju being joined by Kantara star Rishab at the table. Rajkummar, who arrived later, immediately rushed to the trio to exchange greetings and also talk about how much he has enjoyed their work.
The Monica, O My Darling and Badhaai Do star, who was adjudged the Pathbreaking Performer of the Year, also made sure to mention the actors during his winning speech. After the evening’s host Rithvik Dhanjani congratulated Rajkummar on winning the award and stated that he had indeed showcased some of the “most pathbreaking performances last year”, Rajkummar replied, “Haven’t you met Joju, Rishab, Basil – these are the most amazing performers. Also, Rupali (Ganguly) ma’am – what talent!”
Basil returned the compliment when it was his turn. After winning the Inspiring Filmmaker of the Year for his movie Minnal Murali, the Malayalam actor-director said, “I am glad to receive the award in the presence of so many people I respect so much – especially Rajkummar Rao, Rishab Shetty and Joju George.” Priya Mani had presented the award to Basil.
Meanwhile, Joju was thrilled to receive his award for Disruptive Actor of the Year (Male) from friend and Kantara actor Rishab. The duo shared a nice moment on stage when Joju hugged the Kannada actor. He later said that he was delighted that he could receive the award from Rishab.
The four actors had also posed for a groupfie along with Gulshan Grover at the event, which was held in Mumbai on March 26. Other winners include Sunny Leone, Achint Thakkar, Regina Cassandra, Aishwarya Rajesh, Tovino Thomas, Nikhil Siddhartha, Armaan Malik and Karthik Subbaraj.
